About the station: The TKiS-1 station was created by Slawek Figiel, Tomek Mrugalski and Ewelina Omernik as part of the group project during their MSc studies at Gdansk University of Technology.

Current configuration:

text: WiMo TA-1 antenna (omni, operational), 2m WiMo X-Quad (directional, in testing), AirSpy Mini, RTL-SDR v3, Raspberry Pi 4B

The directional grid antenna that was designed for WiFi (2.4GHz, 24dBi) that is being used to receive L-band transmissions in 1.7GHz range. Mounted on SPX-02 alt-az rotator.

The second (v2) antenna used. It is a crossed dipole antenna produced by WiMo. The type is TA-1. It was used since 2019 till late 2021, when it was replaced by QFH. Optimized for 137MHz. The reception was OK, but it fluctuated over time. The antenna was a bit hard to assemble. One of the two horizontal reflectors (crossed pipes at the bottom) was stuck during initial assembly attempt and had to be cut, so was slightly shorter (102cm rather than 106cm). Not sure if that affected the reception. The antenna was not insulated from the balcony railing that circumvented the whole building. Perhaps that had and impact. Anyway, reasonably good first antenna.

The QFH (quadrifilar helix) antenna that is currently (early 2022) used to receive VHF/137MHz band. The model is Diamond DP137. It performs much better than previously used crossed dipole (WiMo TA-1) antenna.

Early photo of the Raspberry Pi 4B+ with RTL-SDRv3 module. The rpi is now housed in outdoor waterproof box and Airspy Mini has been added to the mix. Another USB port is being used to control the SPX-02 rotator.
